Trying to be positive today...

This blog doesn't work as a venting channel anymore, because writing about what makes me feel bad just makes me feel even worse, rather than helping me cope with it like it used to. But at the same time I miss writing a little something every day. I've decided to focus on the good things that happen, although I have to admit I have to really look hard for them sometimes.

But when I can't think of anything, I can focus on what I find in my mailbox these days!

For the sake of having something to do and something to look forward to, in November I joined an online postcard club called Postcrossing. This basically means I'm sending and receiving postcards from all over the world. I love it when I get home from a particularly bad day at work to find a postcard from anywhere in the world, on which a total stranger has written a nice message (and sometimes even made a cute drawing) for me. It makes my days a little better, however sad that is!

Here are the five first postcards I received:

Ridderkerk (close to Rotterdam), the Netherlands
I'd had a terrible day at work and got home to find this card. At the end of a lovely message, the sender wrote "I wish you the best with everything you do in life", which was really sweet and made me feel better.
And the honey waffles in the picture are my favourite summer snack, with a cup of steaming hot tea. Yammie!

Normandie, France
I love this card, for many reasons: I love the picture, I've always wanted to go to Normandie, and the sender is an 11-year-old boy. He put stickers on the back of the card and tells me he loves to read. It's still one of my favourite cards of all the 18 that I've received so far!

Warsaw, Poland
The words mean "Chin up!"

Turku, Finland
Åbo is the Swedish name of the place, and it's the oldest town in Finland.

Montreal, Canada
The original, old part of Montreal was founded over 370 years ago. I didn't know it was that old!
