Phew...!

Wow, no need for an amusement park when you're such an emotional rollercoaster as me! This, apparently, is the day for mood swings. Mood swings of the serious type:

Gah I feel sick and dizzy and poor Angie who feels even sicker and yay the weather is really bad so then it wouldn't have been any fun at the amusement park anyway and yippie I'm going to Rhiannon's today and oh the Medieval Festival tomorrow which I'm really looking forward to but blah I miss my colleagues and especially June who hugged me when I left work yesterday and then wrote on facebook that she missed me already and OH MY GOD SUSAN JUST ASKED IF I WANTED TO SEE THE NATIONAL WITH HER IN AUGUST but crap the stupid ticket agency screwed up when I tried ordering the tickets online and now they want me to pay double price and oh fuck I have to call them and tell them about the mistake and try to get them to fix it and I hatehatehate being on the phone and I think I'm about to throw up and OH MY GOD THEY FIXED IT AND WE HAVE TICKETS TO SEE THE NATIONAL WHICH IS MY FAVOURITE BAND AND HAS BEEN SO FOR ABOUT THREE YEARS NOW AND OH MY GOD I'M SO HAPPY I COULD CRY but wait why did she say I'd get the tickets in the mail when I said I'd pick them up at the ticket office and what do they mean on the website when they say that tickets need to be picket up four days after the reservation is made but that can't mean tickets that are already paid for right but why haven't I gotten a confirmation e-mail yet and shit I need to hurry up so I'll make it to the bus on time and OH MY GOOOOOOOD WE HAVE TICKETS TO SEE THE NATIONAL maybe....!

The Unmagnificant Lives of Adults

Oh, what an interesting day indeed. Not! I mean, when you're so bored you drink heaps of water all day just so you can waste a few minutes by going to the bathroom, you're having a shitty day at work. Well, whenever you can hear yourself go "Yay, I need to pee again!", you kinda realize you'd rather be anywhere else at that point. Then you're bored. As in B-O-R-E-D!

There was nothing to do!!! At least when I went to the bathroom I got to walk somewhere with an actual purpose! Our cleaning lady and most of my colleagues are on strike, so we had to close down the kindergarden until the strike is over. Problem is, though, that we who aren't on strike still have to show up for work. So that's 7,5 hours of doing basically nothing! Even though our boss (who's also not on strike) tells us we can do "looooots of things, like... uh... like... plenty of, uh, stuff." The trick is not to sit down anywhere even remotely comfortable, or else you fall asleep. You want to look alive when she walks by. And for this we get up at 05.30 in the morning.

Madness!

At one point we were ten people at work as the phone rang. I was sitting in the kitchen with three others, and nobody moved. The phone kept ringing, and we all just ignored it. We had nothing to do, just sitting around a table talking crap. But none of us even considered answering the phone. And as it just rang on and on, we figured that all the other people at work were also just sitting somewhere ignoring the phone. It eventually stopped ringing, but I don't think anyone answered it. Funny how being bored can sometimes make you lazy!

My two youngest colleagues put on a video on how to do CPR and made crude comments about the instructor woman and the practice dummy. That's how bored we've been!

The highlight of the day was eating. I kept thinking about this season 4 episode of The Amazing Race I've just downloaded but haven't started watching yet. And aaaaaall day I've had this same song stuck in my head, with Matt Berninger singing

You get mistaken for strangers by your own friends
When you pass them at night under the silvery, silvery citibank lights
Arm in arm in arm, and eyes and eyes glazing under
Oh, you wouldn't want an angel watching over
Surprise, surprise, they wouldn't wanna watch
Another uninnocent elegant fall into the unmagnificant lives of adults

And I really love this song, so I don't want to be sick of it by singing it in my head all day (it's happened before, you see). So I've focused really hard on all the songs on the radio, which for some reason insisted on playing only Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson, and - worst of all - Gitarkameratene! And then, just when I thought I was safe:

Make up something to believe in your heart of hearts
So you have something to wear on your sleeve of sleeves
So you swear you just saw a....
(AAAAAARGH!!! It's the same song!)
You don't mind seeing yourself in a picture
As long as you look faraway
As long as you look removed
(Shhhhhhhh!!!!! LALALALALA!)

I also pondered awhile on what makes Agent Rigsby look almost cute in season 2 (of The Mentalist), whereas in season 1 he just looked... weird. I actually spent a while thinking about that, but came to no conclusion. Realized I need to watch season 1 again, to figure out what's different. I think it's something to do with his hair...

Hmm...

I'm obviously a very busy and important person.

I hate her, hate her, hate her!

I'm having Six Feet Under-moments at work. Just like they do on the show I keep seeing myself doing all these crazy things, like suddenly getting up off my chair during lunch, screaming "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!!!" at the top of my lungs, or "Shut the fuck up! Buffy was wrong, YOU'RE the Evil Bitch-Monster of Death, you fucking psychopath!", or simply watch my own head explode. Or strangle her.

Yes... strangle her!

And then - cut to me still sitting on my chair staring vacantly into space. Or like today, when I had serial-fantasies about John - this cute, Swedish guy I work with - telling Bitch-Monster to back off, and that we hadn't done her anything, and that she has to stop treating people like this. He moved in slow motion and there was a halo around his head which made his hair all shiny. A total romantic movie-movement. Or - as I said - a Six Feet Under-moment, because when I got back inside my head he was still just standing there.

Speaking of John... It's not like I really have a crush on him (I mean, he's a hockey player for God's sake!), but I do love watching him with the kids. He works with me (and Bitch-Monster) with the 2-year-olds, and they love him. Today he was lying back on his elbows on the floor when one of the boys crawled up on his chest and nearly fell asleep there. When John looked at me, all "Hey, look what this kid's doing" and smiled, I swear my uterus skipped a beat. Also, I wouldn't really mind falling asleep up there, myself. I imagine him being all warm and stuff... and he's got this really charming laughter, and a crooked smile. And speaks Swedish. And -

Darn! Changing the subject now.

Tomorrow I'll be working with the 1-year-olds, and even though I start at a quarter to seven in the morning I still can't wait. Because then I might go the whole day without seeing Bitch-Monster! Yay! I hardly eat at work anymore because she makes me lose my appetite. So obviously I get really weak at the end of the day, and I think it might affect my health as well. Why else would I spend two weekends in a row vomiting and then catch a cold or infection!?

Back to watching another episode of Six Feet Under now. I just started watching season 2 again. Man, I love that show! Whenever I feel depressed (and I fucking do now), the Fisher's are like my second family. Like in-laws, I guess I should say, seeing as how Nate's my boyfriend and all (Matt Damon is sooooo last mood swing).
