Camino

Last Saturday I just woke up with a desire to walk. Just... walk! So I took my sister's Big Dog up in the woods. And so the week went! We've gone for looooong walks in the hills almost every day for a week now - steep uphills in all kinds of weather (meaning mostly rain). And my dreams of walking the Camino de Santiago are more present than ever! Not only that, but I've finally come to terms with the fact that I don't really know anyone else who would want to take 4-6 weeks off to walk 780 kilometers through Spain, and actually would no longer mind doing it on my own... And I have the money and everything!

Loooong night....

I just could not for the life of me fall asleep last night! I kept staring at the ceiling, thinking baout an article I read once that said that if you haven't fallen asleep within 15 minutes you might as well get back up and do something else until you get tired again.

Not a chance.

Not even after I'd been lying awake for two and a half hour.

So finally I decided to use a trick I've had lots of success with in the past: daydreaming. The trick is to find something nice, yet slightly boring to daydream about. Nothing too exciting, just enough to keep a smile on your face and to fall asleep feeling content and happy . And since I've been watching a lot (!) of So You Think You Can Dance lately (I've downloaded season 2, and I'm also following the current season week by week), I decided I wanted to dance waltz (boring) with one of the guys from season 2 (nice). But who? Someone cute, sweet, nice, and a very good dancer. Oh yeah, Travis! So there I am dancing the Viennese waltz with Travis, looking deep into his gorgeous eyes... his dark, smoldering eyes... his intensity raising the temperature in the room, and I hear the audience going crazy with excitement, and.... suddenly I'm doing SALSA with Travis! Yes, the SALSA! And obvously we're amaaaaaazing at it, and the chemistry between us is is electric and... wait... now that the daydream is getting totally out of hand, I might as well dance with... Yay, it's Jose! Suddenly I'm doing the salsa with Jose from season 7, and wooooow, how good we are! And as we finish the dance and walk over to Cat Deeley (the show host) we get a standing ovation from the judges, but we can only see their not-worthy bows through the corner of our eyes as we keep looking at each other as if we'd suddenly tear each other's clothes off at any moment. Cat makes a flippant comment about the electricity between us, and.... There was really no point in trying to sleep anymore after that. I decided I might as well watch another episode....

I finally fell asleep about five this morning. Then at six thirty someone called me from the kindergarten and asked if I could work today... Oh the joys of being a grown-up!

Speaking of which, here's my favourite postsecret this week:

Sunday "morning"

We're already ten days into the new year, can you imagine?? Those ten days sure flew by in a rush. I woke up this morning at 10:10 on 10.01.10. That's weird.

Anyway, I'm sitting in my PJ's with slippers on my feet, drinking instant caramel latte and eating breakfast (bread with fish, tomato and mayo), reading the Sunday Secrets, daydreaming that I've already moved out.

In my daydreams I'm doing the same thing, only in our (Thess' and mine) new appartment, in front of an actual desk where I don't have to sit with my back all crooked. And the coffee I'm drinking is from the coffee shop conveniently placed across the street, and the bread is replaced by a croissant, either plain or with ham and cheese on it. And I have that warm feeling in the pit of my stomach that let's me know that in that exact moment I'm completely satisfied and happy with my life.

It just hit me that in order for this image to be correct I'd have to go down to the coffee shop in my PJ's. Or put the PJ's back on once I got back. That would be weird... But let's ignore that.

Obviously I have no way of knowing if our appartment will be even remotely close to a coffee shop, or if indeed I can afford going to one anyway. But this is my daydream! I mean, I also know the chances of meeting Matt Damon (my crush of the week... inexplicably... damn those Jason Bourne movies where he speaks all kinds of languages, including French and Russian!) and him being just a regular guy (meaning not an actor at all) who happened to move to Norway for no apparent reason, ending up working in the kinder garden where I work, and him asking me out are.... well, slim to none, but it doesn't stop me from daydreaming about it.

I kinda forgot what I was going to write about now...
